Starting out from US Government SBIR grants, we became a pioneer of the commercial Scanning Nanoindenter.  Since our commercialization in 1995, we have been funded by sales.  In particular, Hysitron designs, produces, and services leading edge nanomechanical test equipment for the research scientist and engineer.

• Integrated electronics and mechanical design at the leading edge for transducers.
• Promoting knowledge in the field of mechanical properties at the nanoscale.
• Identifying markets that utilize or need mechanical properties testing at nanoscale and microscale.
• A pioneer of Scanning Nanoindenters.

Today, Hysitron is a world leader in quantitative nanomechanical and nanotribological test instruments.   We have over a dozen patents, with another few dozen others pending.  1000 user groups worldwide are familiar with our cutting-edge technology and expertise, and our instruments have found a home on every continent except Antarctica.
