PRIVACY POLICY

 

This statement discloses the privacy policies and practices of Hysitron.  Your use of the Hysitron web site is your acceptance of the conditions described in this Privacy Policy.  If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, please refrain from using the Web site.

 

Hysitron understands the importance of our customers’ privacy. Our Privacy Policy tells you what information we collect when you visit our web site as well as how we use, share and protect the information we collect.  Our Privacy Policy also outlines what choices you have about how the information we collect is used. This Privacy Policy applies to all personally identifiable information collected on the Web site.   For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “personally identifiable information” means information that identifies a particular individual, such as name, postal address, e-mail address, and phone number.

 

Hysitron is constantly innovating and implementing new features in its web site to provide the best possible experience.  Because our web site is constantly changing and improving, this policy will continue to evolve as our web site evolves.

 

Information You Provide to Us

 

Registration is not required to access many of the features of Hysitron’s web site.  However, where a visitor to Hysitron’s Web site is interested in obtaining information on products from Hysitron, or utilizing Hysitron’s on-line customer support service, you may be required to provide us with information about yourself.  Additionally, information may be required should you elect to subscribe to Hysitron’s newsletter, or participate in Hysitron’s contests, surveys, giveaways or other incentives.  The information you provide to us is used in several ways:

 

  • Providing our newsletter and other information you request;
  • Contacting you about the status of an order;
  • To ask you to participate in surveys about products, services or other matters;
  • Providing you with services that you request;
  • Allowing customers to access the customer support portion of our web site;

Information Collected From Your Use of Our Web Site

 

In addition to information you choose to provide to us, Hysitron’s Web site may also automatically collect information through technology to make our site more interesting and useful to you.  For instance, when you come to our site, we may collect your internet protocol (“IP”) address.  IP addresses are used by your computer every time you are connected to the Internet. Your IP address is a number that is used by computers on the network to identify your computer so that data (such as the web pages you request) can be sent to you.  They are automatically collected by our web server.  Hysitron may also use IP addresses to collect information regarding the frequency with which our visitors visit different areas on our Web site.  

 

Hysitron’s Web Site Utilizes Cookies

 

Some Hysitron web pages use cookies.  A “cookie” is an element of data that a web site like Hysitron.com can send to your browser, and which your browser may then store on your computer system.  Hysitron uses cookies to provide you with a tailored user experience.  Cookies are used to better personalize the content you see.  This is done so that we can improve your experience when visiting Hysitron’s sites. We may use the information to research and understand your preferences.  We may also use that information, aggregated with information from multiple anonymous users, for our general business purposes.  Hysitron does not require that you accept cookies, however, and you can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether or not to accept it.

 

Hysitron may use session ID cookies to provide continuity from page to page. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. Hysitron may also use persistent cookies. Persistent cookies permit Hysitron’s Web site to recognize your browser when you return after your first visit to that part of our Web site.  You can choose to remove persistent cookies through your browser options.

 

Hysitron Provides Links to Outside Web Sites

 

The Hysitron web site contains links to third party Web sites not owned by, or under the control of, Hysitron.  Many of these links lead to Web sites belonging to universities and institutions that are engaged in nanomechanical or related research.  Hysitron may also provide links to other Web Sites which may be of interest to our customers.  While these links are provided for our visitors’ convenience, they lead to Web sites that operate independently of Hysitron and thus they have established their own privacy and security policies which differ from Hysitron’s policies.  Hysitron does not monitor, and is not responsible for, the privacy practices or the content of such web sites and we encourage you to be aware when you leave our site to read the privacy policies of any site you visit.

 

Hysitron’s Use of Referrers

 

A “referrer” is the information passed along by a web browser that references the web URL you linked from. Referrers may be automatically collected by our web server and used by Hysitron to identify the web sites referring traffic to our download pages and to present appropriate content to our potential clients. Referrer information may be tabulated by Hysitron on an aggregated basis and used to identify general trends and traffic patterns.

 

Hysitron may enter into agreements with content partners that require Hysitron to count the number of referrals from a content partner site. This information may also be combined with referrer information and tabulated on an aggregated basis to identify general trends and traffic patterns.  Information regarding referring URLs may be collected in our web server logs and client database.  We may use that information, aggregated with information from anonymous users, for our general business purposes.

 

Information We Collect and Share with Others

 

At times, we must disclose information to our business partners.  We might also need to disclose certain information to our contractors, so that they may perform services for us.  Hysitron requires such contractors and business partners to keep your information confidential.  Hysitron may disclose information to such contractors and business partners without additional notice.

 

Communications to Our Customers

 

Hysitron may provide information and special offers to you.  We will communicate with you via e-mail unless you tell us you do not wish to receive e-mails from us.

 

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

 

Our business changes constantly.  In the future, our Privacy Policy may also change. Please know that our use of the information you provide to us or we collect about you is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time we collect the information. If we make any material changes in the way we collect, use, and/or share your personally identifiable information, we will notify you by sending you an e-mail at the last e-mail address that you provided us and/or by prominently posting notice of the changes on the Web sites covered by this Privacy Policy. You should check our web site frequently for changes to our Privacy Policy. 

 

Compliance

 

Hysitron will use reasonable efforts to comply with this Privacy Policy and will take prompt corrective action when it learns of any failure to comply with this Privacy Policy.  We may not always catch an unintended privacy issue despite our efforts to do so.  We welcome user feedback on any privacy concerns.  In light of the above and because of the complex and constantly changing nature of our technology, our business and the law, Hysitron cannot guarantee error-free performance under this Privacy Policy.

 

Limitation of Liability

 

Hysitron will not be liable for any incidental, consequential or punitive damages relating to this privacy policy.

 

Governing Law

 

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Minnesota.
